Who is Barbara Ward?

A bit of explanation is in order: I spent over twenty years in the field of social work. During that time, I worked hard and had many wonderful experiences. I worked mostly with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. During the course of my career I:

* served as consultant to many of the area psychiatric hospitals
* trained other professionals in the area of childhood sexual abuse
* taught and supervised Doctoral students
* served as an expert witness for several area counties
* presented locally and nationally
* created what was, at the time, the first in-patient treatment program for adolescent sexual offenders
* participated in numerous television and radio programs/interviews
* developed a dynamic and healthy private practice
The field of clinical social work requires stamina, insight, humor and creativity. As a social worker, the one thing that I missed was a sense of completion. I needed some sort of a "finished product". In order to obtain this sense, I turned to other areas of creativity; areas that could (and did) provide a more immediate sense of accomplishment. In the fall of 1998, I virtually left the field of social work, choosing to embark on a new career.

Early in 1994, I received a catalog from the "Image Club". I was amazed that art could be created on the computer. Later that year, when our associate relocated to another state, I was forced to learn how to use the computer; she had used it for our monthly billing. As I became more comfortable with computers, I grew to become fascinated with what could be done and I gradually decided to focus on digital graphics and design.
